Candy Gaudry, Our President has been involved with the Havanese since 1994. Her Havanese can be seen at Qbin Kennels. Although Candy is a multiple Champion breeder she has no idea how many Champions she has produced and honestly, she does not care. Although we know it's over 10 since she did receive a breeder of Distinction Award from the HCA in the 2008 banquet. Her fascination with the Havanese has always been in their capacity as a companion. Candy feeds the BARF diet (raw) and is very much into holistic and natural care. She shares her home with her husband Jack, Godiva a standard Poodle and nine very lucky, wonderful Havanese. Rose Perez, Our Vice President fell in love with the breed at the 2000 National Havanese Specialty and a few years later showed "Johnny" her first Champion at the specialty where he won his first blue ribbon in the puppy class. Rose has been responsible for our fund-raising events that have raised thousands for supplies for the dogs in Cuba, Havanese Rescue and the "Mira-cle" Fund. You can see more of her dogs at Cubanitos Havanese. Susan Maslyk our Club Treasurer Is truly a treasure. As a pet owner Susan's Havanese research began in 2001 when she noticed them at the major dog shows. Although only looking for a companion, after purchasing Murphy, she was “hooked” on the idea of a show dog. Susan & husband Dick share their home with Murphy and Murphy's daughter, Maxie. Never a dull moment as the two furkids enjoy their ball play, Frisbees, and regular “run like hell” followed by long naps on the top of the couch in typical Havanese Style!
Shlomo Manor our Club Secretary Shlomo originally welcomed the breed for his late wife but later became so enamoured with the breed that he added a boy as a companion for her. He now says "My home is full of love" and we know he owes that to his two wonderfull spoiled Havanese in New York City. Shlomo makes sure to keep us on track and is always a welcomed breath of fresh air with his anecdotes of his two adored companions. VACANCY We are looking to add a Newsletter Editor to our board that would be willing to publish our bi-annual club newsletter.
