Ready for Havanese Kisses? There are many things to consider before starting the search for a Havanese. Although, it is a dog - it's not like every other dog. When they call them a companion breed they are not kidding! These are velcro dogs, they follow you everywhere. They will be underfoot and they are happiest when they are with you - the human. Although there are many successful families that do work full time and own Havanese there are the exceptions. Also, that is the ownership of an adult - not a puppy that requires many hours of care - going out regularly to potty, etc. Even adults do best when someone comes in during the day for lunch and of course be prepared to brush regularly. :) Do your research carefully, review the many pages on this website. Interview many, many breeders and find the one that tests their breeding stock and that you like the look of their dogs. There are challenges with dog ownership. There is grooming, veterinary care, neighbors, fences, children, and lots of other things to consider. Don't start out with a dog (no matter how cute) that has the deck stacked against it from a broker or a pet shop. Not only do you not know a thing about the history and health of the relatives - Not only will you suffer without a caring valuable breeder for questions - but worse you will be supporting an ugly industry that's only goal is the dollar. We don't list breeders that don't test their dogs on our website - it is up to you to verify that. Be sure to visit your breeder, check references and make a good connection with them. A good breeder is an invaluable resource for years to come.
