  • Charm Photo Bracelet
  • Engraved Stone/Marker
  • Plant a Tree
  • Light a Candle
  • Write a Poem
  • Write an Obituary

Provide us with a photo and tell us about your Havanese. We'll include it in our next newsletter FREE of charge.

  • Memory Album

Visit smilebox to make a free online album. Send to everyone in your address book. Even if you don't feel like talking about it. It's important to share this not only for yourself - your loss - but to remind others to perhaps slow down and spend a little more time with theirs and you are honoring your loved one.

  • Memory Table

Have a piece of glass cut for a coffee or side table. Assemble a collage of your Havanese thru the years photos and protect with glass. There is a lot of healing in recalling the memories every photo evokes. There is honor in sharing your Havanese with your guests - maybe they can't be there now in body but their spirit will definitely be honored with every glance.

  • Website Page

As above the same can be accomplished with a free website easy for the novice. Visit Free Website for details.

Rainbow Bridge

When they cross the Rainbow Bridge

Coping with the loss of your Havanese (or any other member of your family) is never easy. Even when death is expected we still have great difficulty dealing with many of the moments following the loss. There will be habits we may have even grown tired, yet now with the absence of our beloved we'd gladly do for just one more joyous and loving moment with them. The truth is that dogs are never with us long enough. Even when we have behavior issues or difficulties to work through we should always remember that. No matter what obstacle we must overcome to live happily with our canines it will be too soon when they are missed and those issues when looked back upon will make us realize it was us who did not take the time understand. For all those furry faces, and wagging tails that have left paw prints in our hearts and for those that could not call this life whole without them - we dedicate this page in hope that somehow, someway it brings you at least just one more moment of happiness in a dark day.

Ch Starkette Famous Amos QbinAmos - 2002 Havanese Specialty Winner was lost after a neglectful housekeeper let him out. After a massive search, advertising in TV, Radio, & Reward posted his body was found weeks later in the frozen forest near his Ohio home still wearing his top knot. Havanese Rescue honored him by creating the Amos Alert System for any Havanese ever missing. He touched so many lives and left a legacy of coveted chocolate nosed Havanese behind..

Our Mira DearaMira - Perhaps better known to us as "Mira-Deara". When owner Lu Wyland found a lump on Mira's throat she seeked immediate medical care. The Havanese community pulled, perhaps like never before in donations to try and save this beautiful girl. Mira was lost to Cancer but she forever left tear trails in all of us. In honor of Mira we at the IHC instituted the "Mira-cle Fund" a program designed to help pet owners with excessive medical bills for catastrophic illness/disease as those that affected "Our Mira Deara" Thank you Lu Wyland for sharing Mira with us and teaching us more about love for our dogs.

Jan Stark Starkette Kennels BreederJan Stark - If you search Havanese pedigrees you will no doubt find the "Starkette" name on many of the lines. Jan Stark was a mentor to many. She was passionate about her dogs and produced beautiful examples of the breed. Jan you will be remembered by many for all the words of wisdom that you were quick to share and also for all in the legacy that you left behind.

The Havanese is a better breed because of breeders like you.

It's OK to cry, but re member.. your Havanese lived in the moment. Honor them by trying to be happy and when it's time don't be afraid to love again. This will be one of those times that it's perfectly fine to talk about your past love.. to the new one .....promise.
